My fiancé and I dove into the intimidating journey of building our first home with Nathan and the Straight Up Construction crew back in 2023 and could not be happier with the process. Not only where we first timers at this, but Nathan and team had to deal with the complexity of us living in the US while building in Revelstoke. We have worked with Straight Up on numerous projects over the years. On our last project they completed a huge indoor arena, that would be able to withstand the snow loads of Revelstoke BC. It was not an easy task, they did an incredible job. They also completed the sheds and surrounding grounds. A great team, highly recommend.

Nathan and his team built our home in 2021. The process was very professional and on budget. The house took 11 months to build. He hired the best tradesman, everyone worked well together. We had an outstanding relationship with everyone involved. It was a positive experience for us, and we would do it all over again.

Straight Up Construction is a fantastic company to have build your house. Nathan is extremely personable and can explain the details of the process and hold ups exceptionally. It was the most painless way of building a house. We just had to show up, describe what we wanted, make choices, and let Nathan and his associates handle the rest. Any hiccups were all dealt with timely and the ball really felt like it was in my court. At the end of the process they developed a book that contains all the permits, warranties, drawings, operational manuals, and even has a check list on how to check your house during the seasonal changes. It’s phenomenal!

The Straight Up Construction crew did a fantastic job finishing our basement. They provided a realistic budget, great explanations and guidance and wanted to make sure we were always happy. We would definitely recommend them!

We had Straight Up Construction help with a variety of home renovation projects at our house, starting with the deck, soon to follow covered patio and just recently last year our biggest reno: new kitchen bigger and better. I liked that the team were patient with me and finished the projects on time. We appreciated all the subcontractors that also came with Straight Up Construction. After all the inspections, a lot of hard work was done to complete our kitchen and patio the end result was awesome. As the Executive Director of the Revelstoke Women’s Shelter I’ve had the pleasure of working with Straight Up Construction on a number of projects. We had Straight Up Construction do a small but important office renovation for us. It was critical that the work be done in a tight time frame and that the office would continue to operate while A-1 did its work. they preformed the work on time, on budget and they caused as little disruption to the functioning of the office as could be expected (I went toFlorida for the week the work was going on and it wad done when I returned). I am pleased with the renovations that Straight Up Construction did to my office.

Nathan Weston and Darcy Friesen of Straight up Construction was one of the top teams to be employed building a medium density 46 unit project in Revelstoke BC in 2017 called Mackenzie Village. Both Nathan and Darcy provided leadership roles and helped managed many aspects of the build. Straight up Construction was on hand to build 7 buildings with basements, over 45,000 sq. feet in total. Nathan and Darcy are both hard working individuals with a passion for providing a quality end product. Their strong team building skills and overall enthusiasm each day helped motivate and lead a combined group of over 100 individuals that worked together to get the project done. Their construction team included Red Seal carpenters and apprentices, and they also hold project management certification. We would not hesitate to use Straight up Construction again in the future or recommend their services to others with full confidence.

We approached Straight Up Construction in 2008 with a substantial construction project for our hotel in Revelstoke, BC. It involved a large addition, and building a complete second floor. Our previous contractor was not capable and did not have the expertise required to handle a project of this scale. This project required significant planning, budget control, and expertise both with construction practices and site management.   Straight Up Construction was awarded the original contract and was requested to complete several more projects from 2008–2014.   These projects included building extensions, large accessory buildings, room upgrades and exterior envelope upgrades. Their teams advised us on best building practices, and were always recommending options for savings and efficiency based on emerging building technology. They employed a team of sub trades that had a proven track record of quality work, so we were confident in their ability to manage the project. Additionally, they guided us through the requirements of the City building department for permits, variances, bylaws, and BC Building Code compliance. The team of Straight Up made us aware of the legal issues that arose, and advised us how to proceed.   Our interaction and working relationship with Straight Up Construction was very positive throughout the entire project. The customer service experience was transparent and open, and their billing process was very detailed so we were confident that we had honest transactions.   Additionally, this aided in our budgetary process as they gave appropriate recommendations to keep our project finances on target.

I am a general contractor and builder in Adelaide, South Australia and have completed several substantial construction projects. I consider Straight Up Constructions a very competent builder and general contractor. They have a very good knowledge of the industry and the building code. Their attention to detail is commendable and management is very conscious of the safety of their crew. I work out of town and need a company I could trust to take the job from beginning to end and not worry about the details of the project. Few companies names represent its performance. Straight Up Construction came on board for our emerging resort to build our first Day lodge in 2007. We were under extreme pressure to deliver a first class Day Lodge in 6 months. During a time when market conditions were vibrant and very active, their delivery was efficient, seamless and delivered on time. Throughout my tenure as Senior Building Inspector, Straight Up Construction has completed a substantial portfolio. Their projects have ranged from small staircases, to large scale commercial buildings from start to finish. In September of 2017, Straight Up Construction started a duplex project for me on CPR Hill in Revelstoke. Anyone familiar with Revelstoke’s fall and winter weather will understand the implications. September was wet; October and November wetter; and a near record snow season followed. Throughout Straight Up were unwavering. A 4500 square foot, two home project was completed in a 9 month period despite an unforgiving work environment. The work produced was uncompromising and detailed. The end product is a testament to Straight Up’s workmanship and commitment. Commendable work!

I was referred to Straight Up Construction to help me with an extensive renovation on my heritage home. We were informed and involved in many of the decisions and in all the required changes. We were confident that the process was honest and transparent. From start to finish, Straight Up Construction problem solved every situation that arose and successfully delivered a job well done.

In 2007 our company was employed to erect the heavy timber portion of the Day Lodge at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Being from Ontario we were warmly welcomed by the crew from Straight-Up Construction. Having worked all over the world with timber construction it is imperative that the foundation or concrete piers be very accurate as we work with 1/4” tolerances or less. The workmanship put into the concrete foundation and piers was second to none. The owner's enthusiasm and professionalism in working with us was a major factor in completing the project on time considering the many hurdles we had to deal with as is the construction world.
